Lord Ardy invited Priestess Emprest for dinner every day. In his dinner, Lord Ardy made some women to serve him at dinner and he drank some glass of wine.
Emprest said "You often make cooks to cook many dishes you can't eat all of them, and you make women to serve you. Why do you free women from service and give poor people their salary and foods?" He answered "Do you look a ruin and farms no people cultivate? Long ago, the people of this territory were very angry with the tyrant and rose in revolt. The Emperor was very surprised and appointed a general the commander of a punitive force of revolt. The general drove rebel armies a village by some of tricks and burned them with this village. All of healthy men were died, and some of women, children, and old people survived. Some of farms were abandoned by dead people, women lost how to live. If I discharged all of maids, they would die on the road." He drank a glass of wine and said "The reason people are poor is that this said produced very little grain. They know how to live with little foods. If I sympathized them about their poverty and gave them some of food, they would forget it."
She said "Then I think if you reduced tax, people in your territory could live in abundance. What do you think of my idea?" He shook his head and said "It is good idea when they have a good harvest. But in a famine year, is it good? Farmers who live in abundance everyday can't keep up their life in that situation. I don't need to give farmers extra money and grain. But in a famine year, I must use stock of provisions and money for helping hungry people. I think, an angel can't understand this theory. If you were the marquise, even if my explanation, you would understand it." He stopped talking.
Then he clapped his hands, a pretty girl appeared this dinning with her harp from behind the curtain. He said "Dear Sophia, a beautiful and wise woman sits next my seat. This is Priestess Emprest, and she is my important guest. Please sing a song for her." She nodded to them silently and began to play harp and sing a song. Her son was story, a hero challenged a violent god to hopeless battle. It is very beautiful but had a tragic atmosphere. When she stopped her song, Load Ardy paid his tribute to her and give her a glass of wine. She stretched out her hand arkwardly and got it with bow. Priestess Emprest bowed to her. He said "Dear Sophia, I think my guest satisfied your song." When he said it the priestess clicked her tongue "Why couldn't I understand her true? She lost her sight!" She thought "She lives by singing a song for him. If he discharged her, she couldn't live three days." She was ashamed of her ignorance.
